What is Engineering?
(Sorry if it is all Wonky)
⦁ What is Engineering?
⦁ 1) Investigate the engineering profession using the sources below. In a few sentences and using your OWN words, what is engineering?
Engineering is finding out ways to make the world better.
2) Describe the four major disciplines of engineering and identify problems or projects that an engineer in each discipline might encounter.
Mechanical- the branch of engineering dealing with the design, construction, and use of machines. These engineers may face problems such as making an engine more efficient.
Electrical- The study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. These engineers will face problems such as making

⦁ When the 20th century began, no human being had ever flown in a powered aircraft. By the end of the century though, Flying had become a common thing for millions of people, And some of us even flew through space and visited another planet. Today, it is farely common to take a flight anywhere in the world, something people only 100 years ago couldnt fathom.
⦁ 5) Which major discipline of engineering do you think was most involved in the development of this achievement? Justify your answer.
Mechanical was probably the most important major engineering discipline in the development of the airplane. It was needed because they did not know much about physics, but they knew the kind of shape that they needed to get in to the air, and what kind of engine was needed to push them.
Grand Engineering Challenges
⦁ Select a grand challenge you are interested in and discuss in a few sentences why this solution is important to the world.
Preventing Nuclear Terror is important to the world because with may groups out there such as ISIS, (rumored to have at least one nuclear weapon) They could send it anywhere in the world and kill thousands if even millions of people. So it would be a big help to find out waysto counter
Mechanical engineering, thought to be a certain type of engineering, is, as a matter of fact, actually a broad spectrum of different areas that fall under the engineering category. Moreover, mechanical engineers can have a multitude of different backgrounds including chemical, computer, electrical, and much more.
Find a problem that you will solve using an engineering (electrical, electronics, civil, mechanical, etc.) solution.
The field of mechanical engineering is a rather diverse one. Mechanical engineering is involved with everything that moves which makes it the broadest field of engineering to study. Mechanical engineers focus on creating a component, machine, or an entire process to supply people with the goods or services they want, need, or require for life. The automotive industry relies heavily on the field of mechanical engineering to improve safety, fuel consumption, and emissions control. The advancements in mechanical engineering over the past few years have improved greatly especially in the automobile industry where the engines of automobiles are quieter, faster, and more fuel efficient.
My education and work experience have been great preparation for a career in this field. Engineering, by nature, requires strong analytical and problem solving skills. Even outside the classroom, I have learned to look at a situation and break it down systematically. Sometimes when a direct solution is not possible, an optimal alternative or repurpose is appropriate. For example, I worked
First, I will start from the beginning of my career, at college, I’ll go over things like why I chose that college, their tuition and fees, what their engineering staff and buildings are like, and what they are studying in their research facilities. After that I will talk about my military career, which will be a bit longer since I have a lot to go over. In the military section specifically, I want to go over things like the core values of a marine, description of what a military electrical engineer does, and what the requirements are to be a marine. Eventually I will make my way down to civilian engineering, and what life is like as one. The topics I will be covering involve what a civilian electrical engineer is, what jobs you can work, who you can work for, salary and advancements, and how electrical engineers impact the world. I hope you enjoy.
Mechanical engineers design, develop and manufacture machines that produce, transmit and use power. Wherever machines are produced or used, there are mechanical engineers. They play a pivotal role in nearly everything that makes life work. From seemingly simple devices like doorknobs and zip-lock freezer bags to complex robots and spacecrafts, there is hardly an area of everyday life that hasn’t been influenced by a mechanical engineer somewhere along the path from invention to installation. (par
The job of the engineer can be best described as a presenter in a techno artistic field. The job requires the technical capabilities and
On average there are 93,000 flights each day. Society is now able to travel wherever and whenever they
I as an electrical engineer pursuing my master in electrical and electronic engineering developed a skill to solve the problem. During my bachelors, I studied natural and physical science and basic fundamentals that are required in the engineering field and also gained vast knowledge how to identify and tackle new problem in the practical world.
WWI was the war which created the significant role for aviation in modern warfare. Starting out with reconnaissance flights and ending with bombing runs with escort fighters, WWI showed the speed at which aviation can change. During WWI enemy reconnaissance pilots usually just waved at each other as they flew by since
Engineering and Technology — knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Secondary, knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health- care measures, as well as knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, mechanical, electrical, and atomic structures and
Aviation technology was advanced to a great extent because of World War One. From the aircraft’s primitive beginnings in 1903, a number of significant advances were made during wartime. The intense hardship of the war tested the effectiveness of airplanes in World War One, and from these advances aircrafts developed further into the machines of today. The Wright brother’s unsophisticated machine was not intended for use as a weapon, but these purposes changed due to the war, and changed the future developments that would occur. The fierce competition produced by countries fighting for domination of the skies caused neither side to gain a permanent advantage in the air; forcing militaries to work even harder on improving their technology.
What is Aviation? The Cambridge English Dictionary defines aviation as “the activity of flying aircraft, or of designing, producing, and maintaining them.” Human kind has chased after the dream of flying for centuries. From Daedalus and Icarus in ancient Greek mythology to the sketches of Leonardo da Vinci to the inception of hot air balloons in 18th century Europe to the Wright Brothers’ first flight. Orville and Wilbur Wright’s first flight in 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina was the first successful powered flight of a fixed-wing aircraft. This was what kick started the progression of the airplane. From 1914 to 1918 the airplane proved its worth as a weapon on the battlefield and changed the nature of war forever. Also in 1914 was the
Engineering is an exciting field that I believe will be enjoyable, challenging, and above all, intuiting to undertake at university. I believe pursuing engineering means exceeding your expectations and making a
As mentioned above, it is very important for engineers to understand their own responsibilities. In 1960, the Conference of Engineering Societies of Western Europe and the United States of America defined "professional engineer" as follows:1 “A professional engineer is competent by virtue of his/her fundamental education and training to apply the scientific method and outlook to the analysis
