Engineers are viewed as the backbone of modern society. The innovation and the creativity that drives our society forward are inspired by the teachings of engineering, whether it is transporting on a bus or making a phone call, the work of an engineer is experienced. Engineers satisfy both themselves and humanity which is the reason for my passion for engineering.
The idea of seeing a project come to life is what provokes my desire to become an engineer. In the past, engineers have created the greatest historic innovations such as health technology. My passion for chemical engineering is seeing how the fundamental theories of Chemistry, Physics and Math can be applied to create an innovative industry. In very concrete ways, engineers

I would like to add to my degree by completing an Engineering and Social Development certification and a minor in French at UFT. Even more, the location of this campus is ideal for me because I may easily commute and educate myself in the heart of Toronto.
Throughout my high school life, my extracurricular involvement has helped me develop a variety of skills. Primarily, I have been a part of the Leadership and Peer Support group as a project manager of a conference; I exercised my leadership and collaborative skills. As an engineer, there are times where an individual with leadership and cooperative skills must rise and become the leader in different projects. Interpersonal skills play a significant role in an engineer’s life because they will always be required to communicate with new people. Earlier this year, a peer and I decided to start a Student Mentorship Program and as a co-founder of this group, I learned how to problem solve, make decisions, think laterally, and work as a team. As a student, my skills will allow me to accept challenges with confidence and contribute to discussions during lectures with new ideas. Teamwork, leadership, interpersonal and hands-on skills are key abilities engineers must contain in order to be successful.
Engineering is an exciting field that I believe will be enjoyable, challenging, and above all, intuiting to undertake at university. I believe pursuing engineering means exceeding your expectations and making a
According to the Occupation Outlook Handbook chemical engineers use chemistry, biology, physics and math to solve problems. They conduct research, develop new manufacturing processes and design new materials all while having the opportunity to specialize in numerous areas. This means that I would be able to utilize my interest for math and science in day to day life, and this career would match my personal interests.
Because of the people I chose to surround myself around, I found myself wanting to go into the field of engineering. My friends knew I had a passion for math and they suggested engineering as an occupation I should look into. As of result of that, I found myself getting into more hands-on projects in my last two years of high school, as well as taking an engineering focused course in high school to try it out. I fell in love with the career path and since then, I aspire to become an
There are no engineers in my family to persuade me into becoming one. It was my own interest and curiosity that drove me into analyzing how things work. Over the years I have developed a passion for solving complex problems that involve technical challenges. I have learnt that an engineering problem does not have a standard solution to it and that an engineer has to choose the best from amongst the various options. The process of applying scientific methods to solve real-life problems continued to intrigue me throughout my years of study, initially in the context of my own behavior, and later to observe and investigate its impact on an increasing affinity towards Engineering.
As we all know, engineer is not an easy job. It requires you to have all the needed knowledge, creativity and also passion. One minor mistake can lead it to a huge dangerous problem that may affect the world. Being an engineer means you have power to create things. You can help the society solving the important problems. Nowadays,
UT Austin offers me a world of possibilities that I could only dream of. UT is already extremely erudite, so making an impact will be difficult. But I will tackle this huge challenge, because I know I can bring unique traits that are uncommon in this world. One of those being, I am very collaborative. I function well in teams because I can communicate with people honestly and positively. At UT I know these skills will help everyone learn more and learn faster. In the real world, all jobs are team oriented, so I know that my good teamworking skills will help other students learn how to communicate ideas. I learned most of my team working skills from robotics club. As part of our new member training, I led a group of new members in building a
I have always strived to be a role model and a leader, both inside and outside of the classroom. My classmates ask me for advice and seek my leadership skills when making group decisions. The SELF Program will allow me to develop my teamwork skills because engineering encourages synergy throughout its disciplines. Furthermore, this program will enable me to explore opportunities in business, industry, and entrepreneurship. As a SELF Fellow, I will bring my leadership skills, motivation, and dedication to the School of Engineering.
We live in a world where humans always find a way to push the envelope and push technologies to new limits. Sky scrapers, ten mile long bridges and many other amazing accomplishments would have not been achievable without engineers. Engineers play a big role in the evolution of the human race. They create history and examples for the next engineer to follow and improve. The world has come a long way because of the ideas and skills of engineers. An example of change that an engineer brought to the world is the paving of roads. Dirt roads were causing many problems for the citizens of Rome. The roads were unstable and would create mud that would sometimes wash away in the rain. So a group of roman civil engineers came up with the idea of paved roads. A group of roman civil engineers came up with the solution to overcome the problems of dirt roads. The solution was to pave roads with rocks and concrete, which would change the lives of the Roman Empire for the better. The basic foundation of this engineering breakthrough is still being used by engineers of
“Chemical Engineering is not an easy major (at all), but if you can make it through to graduation day, you 'll be in demand” (“Chemical Engineering”). A chemical engineer converts substances at tremendous sizes to form new substances or energy for the overall advancement of human life ("What Is Chemical Engineering?"). I have chosen chemical engineering as my future career because the way things are made has always intrigued me. I yearn to comprehend the finite structure of the products we use in our day to day lives. Of course, knowing the career I would like to study is not enough. I must understand what type of schooling and skills will be required, the income and future of this career, along with the experience and attitude I will need to succeed in this field.
With technology being such an important thing in today's society, engineering is also a career which is in demand, especially electrical engineering. "Engineering is the application of science and mathematics by which the properties of matter and the sources of energy in nature are made useful to people; the design and manufacture of complex products." Even though there are about two-hundred(200) different types of engineers, I think this is a good and brief definition of it.
Being someone who enjoys practical tasks, I am determined to work in an industry where I will be able to come up with ideas and then be involved in developing and implementing ideas. To me engineering is an interesting and absorbing subject where there is always something new to learn. Being part of this industry will allow me to explore the practical world of my favorite subjects being mathematics, physics and design. It is my firm belief that automotive engineering is one of the most exciting professions you can choose. From the worldwide concerns of sustainable mobility, and developing automobiles to operate themselves, to working out how we'll get around on the surface of Mars.
Another problem is the perception about engineering. Engineering in general is the application of scientific and mathematical principles to practical ends such as the design, manufacture, and operation of efficient and economical structures, machines, processes, and systems. Engineers are applied scientists; they are not technicians.
Many people in their papers will probably first write about what led them in wanting to become an engineer and then go off onto how they will become a “world class” engineer, but I’m just going to go straight to the point with what I, will soon one day, hope to be by the time I will graduate from college. In this paper I will answer the one question that I have always dreaded as a young student in my elementary school days; which is “how” will I become whatever it was that I wanted to do at the time that I was asked. Since a lot of engineering students do not always commit to the engineering program and graduate with an engineering degree it’s a good idea to come up with a plan to address the behavior and attitude that it takes to graduate
The complex challenge of designing a new sports car, or building a new bridge. Looking outside of the box to accomplish something most people cannot do. Using your hands to design something for the future will be a trait that we can never go without. The world would never be where it is today and will never evolve without the technical knowledge of an engineer.
It is almost impossible, today, to look around you and not see the products of engineering, pretty much regardless of where one may be. In this way, advancements in engineering and its various branches have clearly allowed humanity to develop in immeasurable ways or this would not be the case (Frank C. Whitmore, 1979). However, those who do not have much knowledge of the background processes behind this infrastructure may not realise its impact as deeply or may not realise the impact of engineering at all - despite modern society’s fundamental dependence upon it (National Academy of Engineering, 2001).
I always wanted to get my hands working, whether it be playing with Legos, building computers, or just helping a friend with school projects. I enjoy creating and designing the next best thing or improvements on existing products. These qualities points to engineering as the career best suited for my interest, with mechanical engineering being the field perfect for my skill sets. However, this career is not a full proof plan. Just like any other profession, it has some downsides and problems. Some problems in this field include: a shortage of engineers, lack of proper education, and jobs being lost to robots. These problems can get worse in time as the population rises and as technology advances.
