Katelyn CWV M-W-F 9:50am 12/6/13 Prof. Sharpe God has been a very important part of my live since I was a very little girl. When I was only a couple of months old I was baptized. That was my first spiritual encounter with God. I then proceeded to commit my first communion in third grade. I then received my confirmation when I was in eighth grade. Like I said before God has been a very important part in my life for a very long time. Who is God? What are his characteristics? I believe that God is the person who created me and he is the person I believe in. I also think that God is the creator of the world and that has control over everything that happens in my life. I think that some of God’s characteristics are that he has the …show more content…
I think that my worldview affects my thoughts and actions in many ways. I think that my worldview affects my thoughts because I think that I go back to the things that I was taught as a child and that is the way that I think now a day when I have to go back and think about something. I also think that my worldview affects my actions because I am going to go back and look at the things that I was taught and act the way that I was told was right when I was little. I do not think that my worldview has not changed at all since I started taking this class at GCU. I think that taking this class and brought me to know a lot more about my worldview. I also think that taking this class has taught me about the important people that had the same worldview as me. I loved taking this class to learn more about my worldview. I also liked learning about the different worldview that there were. I think that it is very interesting that there are that many different worldviews. There are some worldviews that are the very similar to my
A world view consists of our basic beliefs; how we view life in general and the assumptions that we make about reality. In its simplest form, a worldview acts as a pair of glasses. For instance, when we wear sunglasses, everything that was initially bright colored immediately loses its brightness. This means that the glasses make us see a shade darker, changing our outlook on things. That is precisely how a worldview operates. It influences how we view and interpret reality and because different people have different worldviews, how one person views and interprets reality might not be the same as another person (Nickel, 2008). This
What is a worldview? To have a world view means that you have created a personal opinion of life. Those opinions you have created, help you make decisions as well as help you learn how to portray the world around you. As to be expected, one man’s worldview will not be the same as yours but it is always good to share your views with other people to hopefully open their eyes to your perception on certain topics. Finally it’s also good to listen to other people’s views to expand your own personal knowledge on the Christian world view.
A worldview is not determined simply by a single factor, value, belief or view. It can be described as a collection of beliefs a person has about his or her life and the world around. This worldview can include aspects such as a consistent decision making process, an idea of what is right or wrong, and also who or what authority do I respect and follow. This view can modified constantly by factors including experiences that a person might face, a changing environment, and different values. There are many different types of worldviews and perspectives people have about the world that help to shape who
Every human being has a worldview whether they are aware of it or not. Although the notion of a worldview might appear basic in nature, the word itself simply meaning how one views the world around them, worldviews are much more complex and far reaching. A worldviews development occurs over the course of a lifetime, shaped by the complex and unique experiences of an individual and the sum of family traditions, religious beliefs and cultural histories. It is an all-encompassing interpretation of reality that plays a central and defining role in our attitudes and concepts about life. While worldviews are formed based on the answers to fundamental questions about human existence, they simultaneously shape
The decision to become a doctor and study really hard for it took a while to get used to, but I finally did it. I decided that it was also time to draw a closer relationship with God. Baptized at the age of twelve, my vision on the world became clearer and that’s when I understood why things happened the way they did – why I came to America, why I met certain people, and why it happened at that time. All these questions were finally answered by God, who spoke through other people at school, church and even my home. I finally understood why the Indian people living in Greenwood helped us the way they did; they put themselves in our shoes and realized that they had gone through the same experience. From these experiences, God has helped me understand the importance of these small parts of life that I didn’t use to think about before. The big change finally made sense! It all happened for a reason – a reason that has impacted me for the rest of my life. The transition to my new life has changed the way I think about myself, act toward other people, and understand God’s will for my life. The decision to come to America was a decision that we will never regret making. - See more at:
Define my worldview. First I will explain what is a worldview. A worldview is known as a framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world. Worldview is basic on ideology, philosophy, theology, movement, or religion that provides an overreaching approach to understanding God, the world and man’s relations to God and the world.
An individual’s worldviews affect how they go about finding the truth. It can make us see things in a way that is not right but also can help us see a solution to a problem. Our worldview can be based off of our moral, values, and beliefs. Individual worldview may even change over time. Whatever our worldviews are that is what we see as the truth (Entwistle, 2010).
Who is God? God is the creator of all according to the Christian worldview. As Christians we believe that God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Diffey, 2015, Ch. 3) We trust that God be existent in three persons. After reading the Genesis chapters, I understood that God
My worldview has been shaped and expanded over the course of my lifetime by many different influences. My family, friends, coworkers, teachers, and even strangers have made impacts on my life that have in one way or another changed how I view society and the world around me. The three main components that help to form my worldview are Ethics, Human Nature, and God, because they molded my thoughts, experiences, education and life decisions.
Another part of my religion that affects my worldview is the fact we have forgiveness through God. He sent is one and only son to Earth to die in order to give us salvation through him. That gives me hope for our world, the fact that we have a choice to follow him and refrain from sin. Another belief from my religion that influences my worldview is that there is evil in the world. Especially in today’s times, it is easy to see how the world is becoming filled with more and more evil. I think God allows evil in the world to keep humanity in check to some point. In other words, God has the need to test his followers. Those tests most often come in the form of different evils. The tests are, in other words, a way to test our self- will. I think this is a huge part of Christianity and in turn my worldview. I feel like showing your self-will is a daily challenge and in it can be tested in many different ways or scenarios. I think that God is able to take evil away but somehow it is necessary to keep in the world. I honestly can’t think of a reason for keeping evil in the world but I have to keep faith that God does have a purpose for it. This, ties in to a part of my worldview, in that there is a purpose for everything.
There are many different aspects of a person that contribute to our personal worldview. For example, our family values, expectations of education, age, race, and gender roles. The main influences on my worldview are family, age, and educational values.
Today’s society consists of many worldviews. Most people tend to pull beliefs from different religions, but often stick to one main worldview. A worldview to me is the gathering of beliefs that shape what we do on a daily basis and forms our overall view on life. When I look at my beliefs critically, I am able to see my worldview and see how it compares to different worldviews, but also how it compares mainly to the Christian Worldview.
Whether clearly defined or not, everyone holds a worldview. Through life, travel, study, and contemplation, I have sought to clarify and substantiate my worldview. When comparing my beliefs to various other worldviews, mine stands up as logical and rational. Most importantly, my Christian worldview can be applied to contemporary problems and even explain many of the world’s issues. Though the Christian worldview is one of the most criticized, it provides substantive answers instead of more philosophical questions. After all, a worldview is only worthwhile if one can explain and defend their beliefs.
“The meaning of the term worldview seems self-evident: an intellectual perspective on the world or universe. Indeed, the 1989 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary defines world-view as a "... contemplation of the world, [a] view of life ..." (Funk, 2001). The word contemplation can also mean inspection or observation. Many things go into a person’s worldview and everyone’s worldview will be slightly different. An individual worldview is comprised of the total of that individual (e.g. their history, religion, priorities, etc.).
What is a worldview? How does it influence our daily lives? A worldview is how we see reality. It influences the way we live our lives. It influences the way we interact with each other. A worldview is a belief system of who we are, why we are here, and what our destiny is.
