These metaphors are interesting to me because they feel like a part of me. My friends and family have always been there for me and that kept me strong and safe through hard times my “Safety Net” As for the “Love is a trap” metaphor to me love was something that was hard to escape from. I believe everyone has had at least one person who has supported them through thick and thin, and I also believe everyone has had at least one love that could never be. You know how the saying goes “The heart wants what the heart wants”. 4. Out of all the nets in history, you selected 6 specific ones as potential sources of inspiration. Explain how your selections can influence your net. I believe that depending on the net the message of the metaphor can come across better. For example a Net with naps and varying size of the holes would display that love is complicated better than a net that is clean and cut. 5. Explain how 3 potential locations for documenting your net could increase the metaphor. 1) The house I grew up in. 2) My high school (I meet my crush there) 3) My first friend’s house. 8. Discuss 2 ways in which Janet Echelman’s TED talk elevated your sense of curiosity about the creative process (or anything else). 1) I learned that old things such as fishnets can be used in new and initiatives way that give them a fresh look. She took something had been used for a long time in the Indian culture and used that to create something unique. 2) I also learned that Art has no set size. It can be as big or small as you want it, so I will try to broaden my horizons and will not be limited. 9. Discuss 2 ways in which Dustin Yellen’s TED talk elevated your sense of curiosity about the creative process (or anything else). 1) Inspiration can come from anywhere. He saw pictures of people and common thing in bodies of water and other unconventional things. I believe that is a great skill to have and can be an eye opening experience. 2) His speech about how we are all the same was mind opening, not only as a social aspect but with art as well. I think that my view of art is very linear and I feel that this view of things will inhibit my art
