There are many things that I am as a learner. One thing that tells you what kind of learner I am is that I’m a decision maker. I learned that I am a decision maker, from one of the tests that Ms. Reffel had us do. The website said I was much more, but I was mostly a decision maker more than anything else. A different website said I was visual which I agree strongly with because I think when I learn it bothers me when I don’t see it in person or I think it’s harder to learn. Another test said I was multiple things such as musical, body, picture, and number. Those types of learning I like a lot. I think these tests work a lot and I learn more about myself that I didn’t really ever think about it.The last learner that I am is balanced and risk taker. The first myp learner that I am is balanced. I’m balanced …show more content…
The says I Hated Every Minute of Training, but I said, “Don't Quit. Suffer Now and Live The Rest of Your Life a Champion.” He is a legend in sports and I would like to play a professional sport too. I would like to play professional baseball but I know that it is awfully difficult to go professional but I would love a job where you could play baseball and get payed good money manly love what you are doing and. Since for one of my hobbies is to collect cards I couldn’t imagine having a card with me on it. If that never happens I would either want to be a pilot or a police officer. Another thing that also interests me is being in the army I know can be dangerous in the army and there is a chance you can die but I do love my country. I don’t know what branch I would like to go in but I don’t know what branch I would go in whether The Air Force, Navy, or the Army. Plus they pay for your college. There is just so many options to choose from for jobs but for right now I’m just gonna worry about school and my grades because all that stuff is years
I was born in Independence, MO on November 14, 1999. I was born into a sports family. My great grandpa and grandpa started teaching me baseball as soon as I could hold one. My great grandma and grandpa babysat me while my Mom was at work. He would sit on the floor and roll the ball to me. When it got warmer, we would go outside and play on his deck. I have loved baseball ever since. Sports have always been my passion. I play baseball and basketball. I started playing basketball my freshman year of high school and started playing baseball as soon as I was ready. There was never a time in my life where I wanted to stop playing sports, never once. I have never had a coach that has made me want to quit playing. If I had a coach that hated me, I paid attention to myself and didn’t let him get to my head about playing the game. I am going to try so hard to go as far as possible with baseball. I want to play baseball for the rest of my life. It’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was in middle school. I’ve known what I wanted to do with my life for the longest time. Sports are “my everything” and
After completion of the test on myself I have discovered that I have a learning style of Logical – Mathematical, with a majority score of 37, closely followed by Interpersonal with a score of 32, (see Appendix 1).
“What I Learned as a Kid in Jail” is a speech given at a TEDTalk convention to a group of young men and women delivered by Ismael Nazario, a prison reform advocate where he does work for The Fortune Society, a non profit organization. Nazario was arrested when he was just under eighteen for robbery and sent directly to Rikers Island where he spent 300 days in solitary confinement, before ever being convicted of the crime. Nazario’s goal in delivering his speech to a group of younger men and women is to make them aware of the way correctional officers treat younger inmates and how inmates should be spending their time doing productive activities and understanding they do not have to go back to the life they were living. Nazario accomplished this goal by sharing personal stories from his past experiences.
I always thought I was more of a visual learner and more hands-on learner than a verbal learner
After taking the learning styles assessment it was found that I am a visual learner most of all followed by tactile and auditory. This meaning that I like to see what I am learning, I am able to understand things and later recall what I have seen. I honestly have to say that I do not agree with these results; I say that because after reading and just knowing how I am, I believe my best type of learning is through tactile, I have been this way since elementary school. When you are a tactile person you like to learn and pick up the information best through touching and doing things, you are very hands-on. Versus someone who is a visual learner just needs to see it or read it. Some of the characteristics a tactile person has is completely me; such as I am always doing something, I like to be hands on, when I talk I move my hands sort of like I am trying to act out what I am saying, I always have my legs going or am swaying side to side, like flashcards to study with, and am always chewing gum.
In the learning styles test, it resulted that I am a visual learner. I believe that this is true because I would rather to see a demonstration of what I am supposed to do so I can be able to do it by myself later on. It is effective for me when I am studying because I can remember what I saw as opposed to what I heard. Also, I get distracted easily therefore if a class session tends to be long and only involves discussions and talking, I tend to space out a lot. The results says that visual learners should always be sure to look at the study materials and make use of flash cards, which I tend to do all the time. In the value assessment section, I did the Rokeach Value Survey and this was a great one. It helped to prioritize terminal and instrumental
Throughout my teenage years I loved to play baseball. I was in different clubs, organizations, and teams. My whole life was dedicated to playing ball. Then things started to change going into my freshmen year, I started to get into computers. I decided to enroll into a computer class at Franklin high school. I started to learn a lot stuff about computers and also I was pretty good at it. Also at the time I was still managing to be in baseball. Then going into my senior year I had to choses in between being in baseball or going into computers. I knew going into computers will help me get a head start in my carrier. So I chose to go into computers and quit baseball. I thought I will never have to quit baseball my whole life. It was a very big significant event in my life but good things have come with it. I got three CompTIA certifications, paid for half of my
Secondly, the teacher gave us a test for my learning style. The results show, my learning style is visual. I was not surprising in the result because I know myself very well. I love to watch the video and we read books to help me on study. There are unique characteristics of Visual personality As Spanella T (for studay.com
In this course, History 101 Western Civilization to 1689, the five things I have learned are: Homer’s life and writings; Aristotle, and his synthesis of early thinkers; Alexander the Great, and his legacy; Julius Caesar, and his power; and finally, Martin Luther, and his influence. I feel that in this course I learned more about people in history than I have ever learned before. These people I am discussing have made tremendous impacts on the world and have allowed so much growth in western civilization. The topics I have picked to discuss are the most important to me because they symbolize, in my mind, eras, and the great changes of the world, mainly through mindset and belief. These five topics show how people are needed to make changes, and to make history, and how the ideas that are brought before these times have lasted the years.
After completing the assessment, the inventory concludes that my learning style is predominantly feeling and concrete experiences. For concrete experience, my score of 43 reveals my passion to learn information that I believe is relevant for myself. Subsequently, scoring 34 for active experimentation indicates my preference for applying and testing ideas to understand a concept. Additionally, scoring 25 for reflective observation reveals how I learn concepts through observing others complete a task. Scoring 18 for abstract conceptualization indicates how my learning style does not depend on facts and figure. With all of these learning styles, my graph illustrates strong areas in mode 4 and 1, however, it is immensely low in mode 2 and 1. Overall, my results showcase that I belong in mode 4 learning. The learning style inventory is accurate as it reveals that my strongest learning style is concrete experience. This
After awhile in 8th grade I finally started to think if sports were superior to pursue in the future. I felt like I was in the army, because of how my coach yelled at my team and cussed at us. I didn’t enjoy him making fun of us and calling us hateful names. I felt like I was being bossed around, or bullied, I soon quit in 8th grade during the middle of a season. I talked to my parents and they told me that “football is a tough game.” They didn’t care that I quit, they told me to focus on my academics before sports. After a couple of mouths, I asked my sister’s boyfriend who was a former marine of how it felt to be training for weeks. He told me he hated it; his instructor will cuss at them and dehumanize them. We talked for about an hour, of how the military and football are similar in many ways. I related his answer to my situation in football and thought about how sports and the service are quite similar.
Also, I do not like to deal with a great deal of stress when I have to balance all of my school homework and extracurriculars as well (especially when teachers are not very understanding). I also prefer projects over tests because I tend to perform better on examinations that I can look into and learn about, rather than review. Furthermore, I am more of a hands-on learner rather than a visual or auditory learner because I usually remember better when I do something. I enjoy performing experiments or having demonstrations to capture my complete and utter
Spatial, visual, and tactile, just a few of the results that were given to me after taking many tests. A total of four tests were taken the first was one found in-text in a book used in class. In the first test it was about learning styles, after answering all the questions, I primarily fell into the category of being a visual/graphic learner, but fairly close was tactile/kinesthetic and auditory/verbal. These results from the first test was really
As a leader I feel I learn best from doing, experiencing and living my story. I’m going to own up to not being a great storyteller upfront. I make mistakes and I try things that don’t work. However, the experience itself is valuable for the bigger picture of the person I’m becoming. The most important thing I’ve learned in these two modules is that as leaders we need to have the desire to be storytellers and actively practice the skills we are learning. So, I will do that a great deal in this essay, practice that is. It is through telling stories that we build skill and become more effective at using this technique as a form of creative leadership.
A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because I already knew I had these traits as a part of my personality. However, the results from my learning styles survey were a little surprising to me. I got visual as my highest total score, while kinesthetic and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last year, I took a survey to figure out my learning style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can be learned and strengthened.
