Advantages And Disadvantages Of Knowledge

Knowledge, as we all understand, can be general or specialized. We are able to gather knowledge about certain aspects of reality, branches of science, skills, traits and phenomena observable in nature. But there is another kind of “knowledge”, which is the sum of every subcategoric, specific knowledge. This knowledge is what we know about the “world” - how knowledgeable we are, how well can we navigate the seas of reality because of our knowledge about its currents, flows and hidden reefs.

However, general and specialized knowledge can be identified from another point of view. “General” knowledge is knowledge for its own sake, la connaissance pour la connaissance. Think of scientists and professors who have a vast, almost infinite knowledge about the the tightest niche of their scientific area, and yet, they often can’t make it very far and high in terms of prosperity, respect, human self-fulfillment.

Knowledge, in itself, is nothing. It can even be a burden we are gathering tirelessly and than we carry it through a lifetime, climbing obstacles, overcoming challenges, our knowledge barely helping, and sometimes pulling us back instead. …show more content…

It needs to be unleashed into a certain direction, to reach a certain goal we can work towards. In this situation, it becomes fuel for our efforts instead of a burden. Knowledge wants to be used. It is a tool, which if left unused, only rusts, but it makes us able to do tremendous amounts of work in a given space of time, if wielded properly. Knowledge needs clear targets to deliver. Knowledge needs to be organised. If we are consciously using our knowledge and we follow the whispers of our instincts that guide us, highlighting the way we want to go, then we acquired real, useful, palpable, effective specific
